Sick BALL
I just got a CB young ball shipped to my house and when I got her she was very cold...
Within the first couple days I noticed weezing and shortly found out the symptoms are from RI. I am taking her to a vet(2-3 days) soon but in the mean time I have the heat at 90-95 and humidity at 60%.. My question is, How long does it take a RI to develop? The breeder says it takes weeks and is sure it does not have RI cuz she looked good when the she packed snake for shipping. Can It be developed from one day of shipping in very cold weather or does it take weeks. When i did get her a few days ago she was very cold to the touch.
Last night she was star gazing even with the light on all night and day. She also yawns alot but does not keep her mouth open that long. She also is not going into her hides. She just kinda site there in the middle of the tank. The first2 days she was hiding going from cool to hot side. Now it just seems like there is something wrong.
Today I opened her mouth with a credit card very gently and it was full of
mucus... I tried to swab it but could not open the mouth and hold the
snake AND swab it at the same time so i just put her back in the
cage...
Another thing, when I was handling her to open her mouth she tried to get out of my grip and it sounded like her spine cracked in several places...
I'm sure it was just the joints cracking like a knuckle cracks since
she is moving around fine with no signs of paraplegia.. Have you ever
herd of this? I was very gentle.
LEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!

So you have already contacted the breeder.. good.
And an RI will not show that many obvious symptoms overnight, it was sent to you with a good head start and the cold temps helped it get worse.
Was the box insulated, have any heat packs and what were the overnight temps while it was in transit?

You may want to lower the humidity as well to help dry up the mucous in her lungs.

wow poor baby.
I had a similar situation with an asian wd long ago---and between the way she came to me (cold and unheated in the dead of winter) and the veterinary "care" she recieved---my inexperience--and the weakness of the animal to begin with---it was ahorrible experience.
You do have something I did not have at the time---people who know what they are talking about.
I am a novice with snakes so I have tapped into the same people many times for support.
Let us know how it goes.....and post it as you go along so other people can learn form your experience

He is doing the same... crawling around and not chilling out too long.. I'm giving him a rest with the heat tonight cuz I doint wanna cook him too much. I will keep it off till early morning. He still has his hot spot... He has a little bad shed on the tip of his nose...
The breeder gave me a 7 day gaureentee.. Should I send the snake back and get a refund? or just stick with it... I dont want to pay for a dead snake...
Any more suggestions?
Here is a pic of my 3 tanks.
Top is My first ball. Middle are my hissing cockroaches. Bottom is the sick snake...

Oh yea, The box was not heated. It was a foam box in a cardboard box with holes in both.
