Very bad luck lately... NEED HELP!
Ok, I went to the Daytona show and picked up a Columbian RT... she looked fine and everything. On our way home I picked up food for a few other snakes. We fed the snakes and handled the new one a bit and then put her away. The next day I check her out and she's acting normal, until I pick her up. She twitches and grabs ahold of my fingers with her tail as tight as possible. This behavior continued everywhere, on my bed.. she would just twitch, in the bathtun she could swim... she just lost her balance and twitched. I had enough and I took her to the local herp store where there is this guy that knows his stuff. He looked at her for less than 30 seconds and said, "She has classic signes of IBD."
I'm going through the ropes to fix that problem, but what I am really worried about is my other snakes. We had 2 corns (a 9 year old Red Rat and a 9 mo old Blizzard, it died on Tuesday from something unknown, looks like he tried to regur. a meal and it got stuck ) and 3 BPs. I fed 1 BP at my GFs house and 1 at my house that Sunday. All the snakes appear fine, digested fine, alert, happy, nothing unusual...except for the baby blizzard that died.
After hearing that news I quickly got her back home and put her in a different room, cleaned up really well and checked on my others, they are fine.
Does anyone have any advice on my snaked, excpet the CRT... I should be giving it back to the seller for a refund tomorrow.
If the others did get infected, how long does it take for symptoms to show up? Do they need a Vet visit? Is there any other precautions that I can take? Can this desease affect humans?

What vendor? What 'signs' of IBD did the vet notice? Did he flip her on her back and allow her to try to right herself?

How old is the Columbian RT?
I would be taking it off to a respectable herp vet for tests before freaking out because one person said it had IBD. I know that costs, and instead you can save by giving it back, but the cost of the vet visit may save some stress and worry for you regarding the rest of the snakes.
People call me paranoid, because not only do I quarantine new or sick snakes, I also shower and change my clothes after handling them before handling any others or anything to do with the others. A story like this just reinforces the paranoia and makes me not so worried that people consider me so.
Good luck.

CK, I'm not sure that the "twitch" is really a problem. I would take it to the vet before you do any more. A lot of boas have a sort of spontainious tail twitch, and very young boas sometimes loose thier balance. Vet first, fix later. It would be a real shame if you were trying to fix something that wasn't broken.
Of course, I could be totally worng and there could be a problem. If thats the case, then you should follow the vets advice. Good luck!

In answer to your question, I would take the CRT to the vet. If it does in fact have some sort of issue, find out if it's transferable. If it's transferable, then DEFINATELY get your other critters in asap.

Update. I took it back to the breeder I bought it from (They were semi-local, so I called and arranged to make the drive) and returned her for a refund. The breeder ahd over 100 snakes on property and not 1 other was showing the signs. Turns out that the mother of this snake died during birth of 40 babies. A few were still born, most were normal, and some were premees. I bet that I got a premee with an under developed nervous system. That's why she couldn't keep her balance and stuff. I got my money back, explained to the breeder that they should keep her seperate from the other snakes and watch her for a few weeks then make a decision on what to do with her. On the way home my GF and I stopped off at out local herp store and bought a Suriname/Columbian mix. She is very pretty and is doing well.
Thanks for the replies and conserns.... I'm still watching my other snakes closely for the next few weeks. They appear fine though....
