python search
I have decided to add to my snake collection. I have a ball and she is 3 years old and 34 inches. I have had her a while. I got her from my brother who wasnt caring for her properly. I like pythons and want at least 3 more and build a nice stacked cage. any good ideas for pythons that are under 8 feet or so. No biger till my babies are older. Different types would be nice.

LOL a black headed python doesn't get over 8 feet or so, but will cost you from what I hear about $5000 to become an owner. Blood pythons are about 4 or 5 feet and are thick/heavy bodied and are not too pricy. A woma python will get to be about 8 feet or so also, but they are about $1000 if I remember right. Black headed and woma are both austrailian breeds. Carpet pythons also, don't know their prices though. I don't know if you want a python specifically, but also look into various breeds of boas. I believe (I may be wrong on this) that no boa except the anaconda gets longer than 10-12 feet.

Irian Jaya carpets get about 6'.
White Lipped (Northern) these require specific care might reach 7 or 8'. The Southerns get bigger.
Children's or Spotted pythons stay very small (haven't kept one of these, unsure of adult size)
Water pythons don't get more than 6' or 7'.
Savu pythons get no more than 5'.

I'd have to suggest JCP's, Bloods and/or Borneos.
JCP's are great, Bloods and Borneos can be quite nervous and snappy, but are great looking impressive snakes under 8FT.

There have been epicrates angulifer that were found that were 10+ feet.
Just FYI.

Spotted/Childrens Pythons: Childreni, Stimsoni and Maculosa are the 'small' Australian Pythons and hang around the 3 1/2 foot size. There are slight variations between the species, but that's a ballpark size.

ssscales: our pair of Borneos are slightly hissy, but they have never offered to bite. They are the more docile of the Bloods. I've heard that the Reds and Blacks are more temperamental, though.... Haven't worked with them so I can't say for sure. They need slightly larger cages than the others since they need room for the humid hide and large water dish, plus they need the room to get their fat lil bodies turned around, LOL They are awesome to work with, though.

I looked up the epicrates angulifer (cuban boa) and I was never really familiar with them but apparently the average length is around 7 feet and was maxed out at about 12 feet. I've heard of (could be a tall tail) of a red tail getting to be 16 feet long. I don't know though
