the full spectrum UV lights for reptiles
I was always hesitant to buy a UV light for my snakes because I was never absolutely sure if it even did anything for them. But since I'm here now, I thought I'd ask. Do these lights actually give these animals some of the vitamins that are needed, and do they actually brighten your animals colors too as I have heard sales people at petstores state? Thanks in advance for your answers, Brad

Well since I have this light I'll go ahead and use it and see if it actually does brighten their colors anyhow. Thanks Chris

And to answer your question, I have a red tail boa and a rainbow boa, and am looking to get an argentine boa if I can find a breeder. I don't have any pictures of them to post yet sorry.

Providing a UV bulb helps a reptile produce safe levels of Vit. D3. It's said to be safer than providing vitamin supplementation, i.e. RepCal, MinerAll, etc. which can be easily overdosed by accident. UV is more of a necessity for diurnal reptiles that are not carnivorous. Carnivorous reptiles get all the vitamins they need from their prey. But, providing UV lighting to carnivores won't hurt, it just won't be necessary.
