This Is How I Treat For Mites

I clean the cage and everything in it with bleach water, and then I dry it out.
I put my Boas in a Rubbermaid tub and sprinkle Sevin dust 5% (NOT THE 10%!) on them. I let it set overnight, then I give my Boas a warm bath to
clean them off. I also put a light dusting of Sevin dust 5% in the cage and leave it in for about 1 or 2 weeks. Then I clean the cage one more time
with bleach water to get all the Sevin dust and DEAD MITES out.
During this two week period I also change the water daily.
This way the reptiles will have fresh, clean water to drink every day.
I know some people say Sevin dust is not safe for your Boas,
but I have had nothing but good luck with this.
I have had boas since 1979, and have not had any bad experiences from this.
You can buy Sevin dust at any home & garden store.

Take care
Tom

I had a problem with mites inmy rep room a few years ago. I used provent a mite. It's easy to use and totally eradicated miteswith one treatment. You don't have to subject your reps to anything. Just remove them from the area and spray the substrate and around the cage, let it dry then put the reps back in. poof! all gone in 24 hrs. I use it with any new rep i get to be safe and every three months around the fronts of my cages in my rep room just as a proventive. It's the best.

When i had a mite problem a few months back i put my python in a bucket with mineral oil in it and every so often dipped his head back in to make sure that there was no place for the mites to hide i also put a top on it so i could clean out the tank with bleach while he was soaking. It seemed to get rid of the mites in one treatment. (i have 2 ball pythons that i used it on but my friend used to own a redtail boa and it didnt harm it so i am assuming it will work with any type of snake.)
