Hello, this is my first time posting here and i hope it can be of some help.
I have had my red tail boa for 6 months now, and i have never had any problems. she has never snapped or hissed at me at all. i hold him often and he is will taken care of. two our of the last four times i have went to feed him, instead of eating he will begin to hiss and get vert aggressive. he will strike at the mouse and at me. he wont eat the mouse though, #$%^$%^$%^$%^& just snap at it. i left the mouse with him for approximately 30 minutes and he still acted in this manner. i am really concerned. im not sure what to do. please help

Welcome to RTB!
I'm by far the expert here, but I'll help you get a jump on things. They are going to need more info. Cage, heat, how do you heat the cage how often you feed, how do youe feed(live, pre-killed, frozen thawed) <--------very important question. After answering some of these questions go to the Caresheets section, <-- over on your left, and do some reading and the pros will be along to help you out.

Are you feeding live?
Cause it sounds like he may have gotten bit in the recent past and is going into defense mode.

i'll bet you he sheds in the next 2 weeks and these are just defensive strikes! He doesn't want to be messed with because he's going to go into shed. I bet he'll be in blue this week.

More information about the boa. in his cage on the hot side it is about 86-88 degrees and on the cool side it is about 80-82 degrees. i feed him live, but after reading about it on the internet, from now on i am going to feed pre-killed food. I try to feed him every week, but some times he may go 2 weeks between feedings. When this happened he had recently shed. and i think he is about to shed within the next week or so.

first off.....welcome to rtb.net. I almost forgot to give you the proper welcome. Yes, live is bad. Some do it and some don't. I'm not going to preach because I'm not a daddy! But we have GREAT care sheets that I think you should see! If that don't make you think twice about it I don't know what will!!!!!
