1 question only - Do I need UV for a Ball Python?
is it necessary to have a uv light for my ball's???is it better for health??

Oh and by the way how about changing him over into a enclosure with no substrate when feeding your asking for trouble feeding on it bedding.

He can ingest some of the substrate when he eats. This can kill him because they can't digest it.

nope snakes don't need uv light. They are mostly nocturnal hunters any way. They get into the sun just to warm up. I do keep a light on my aboreals but, it is a night light or a cermic heater since they prefer to stay on perches. but, it is true feeding on a substrate is just asking for problems. It looks nice but good ols newspaper has always worked best for me. I do use dri-tek on top of my paper for my adults, that way if they urinate they don't waller around in it. It's easy to clean, lasts forever,and the nespaper underneath does not get balled up and moved around. I love this stuff, it's great! The snakes also like the feel of it since I have experiented with putting hide boxes on this and also on paper with substrate or plain and they always go for the dry tec. And it looks a lot better that plain old newspaper too.
