Moving to Brazil what to do to bring my Boa ?

I am moving back to Brazil in two moths and need to know what are the legal procedures to bring my pet boa along with me. Anybody done this before ? Should I ship her or can I bring her with me ??? [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif[/img] alex@korolkovas.com

Well for starters..You really need to check into export/import procedures I would think. Just go from there ia alll.....

To put it simply...sell your boa. You cannot bring it with you on the plane, and shipping is not a feasible option.

To begin with, most Boa constrictor ssp are CITES Appendix II. To be ale to ship internationally, you will have to obtain permits in advance from the US Fish & Wildlife Service, as well as their Brazilian counterparts. Currently, I believe that Brazil has restricted the import/export of any native herpetofauna.

Let's assume for a moment that Brazil did grant permisssion to import the boa, the cost would be prohibitive. Once you factor in the cost of permits, inspection fees, customs broker's fees, and the cost of air cargo, you'd be looking at well over $1,000.
