ibd or nuerological or playing dead.
Went over to see my reverse stripe today and he looked good, came out of his hide, wanted to bite me and handled well. got some pics and let play on the bed and seemed fine. I then started to check head, eyes, chin and mouth for ????? and he started to turn his head upside down and kinda did the death spiral with his head. he was able to self correct but did this a few times but was always able to correct. I flipped him on his back and he righted right away, faster than i thought he could. He did eat 2 days ago and seems to move fine. no stargazing noticed at all, and everything else looked good. He has not done any of this death twirl while in cage. what should I watch for or worry about. he is in QT.

Re: ibd or nuerological or playing dead.
I would let Ryan know right away, even if it turns out to be nothing. God, that snake has such an adorable face.

Not one of ryan's, it was purchased from over the hill reptiles and i will be making some calls to get more background on her. I am not that worried right now but she is in Qt fo a while. Star--who do you use for a vet? Mine is in greeley and need to find someone closer.

Re: ibd or nuerological or playing dead.
I only know of 2 reptile vets in the area. The first is Dr. Cita. His office has moved to West Denver somewhere. Scales and Tails South probably has his number.
The other one is the one I'd use if I had any problems now. Kevin Fitzgerald at Alameda East. He has a lot of experience with herps and is fairly well known in the herp community.

I think I recognize that snake? As crazy as that sounds... PM me when you figure out her produced him, as I may be able to shed some light on the situaiton. Other than that, the snake should at least be evaluated for parasites, viral infection, bacterial infection, etc.... corkscrewing is NOT normal

Re: ibd or nuerological or playing dead.
Let me know how you like Kevin Fitzgerald if you go to him. I've met him before at a reptile expo, and I really liked him. His office is right close to me, and normally I'd invite you to drop in and meet the infamous Jesse and Veronica (and Stargazer!) but I know you'll have your snakey with you and will need to get back quickly.

Re: ibd or nuerological or playing dead.
I am gonna call when the kids get off to school and talk appt. I think I have meet him before but just cant place it. again thanks for the info and i will let ya know. i am also planning on spending some good time today with the stripe to get a good idea on who this snake really is. should be fun..........Thanks for the invite we have to meet up soon, but I do not want to bring anything into your collection....I just hate not really knowing backgrounds on stuff. With Ryan I feel real secure with his animals but the unknown of the stripe is killing me.
Shawn

Re: ibd or nuerological or playing dead.
Kevin Fitzgerald was at the 07 summer reptile expo talking about his rattlesnake project (which I missed because I was at lunch).
I actually do not allow other snakes into my home due to the contagion factor. Other than that, you are always welcome to visit me and the snakes.
Good luck. I'm curious to hear how it turns out.
