Question Pest Control

Well, the ghetto apartment I live in has finally decided that not only does it need to spray the outside for bugs, but also the inside of every apartment every 3 months. My month is October.

I questioned the office staff and got mostly blank stares and one dumb look when I asked about it being reptile safe. After a discussion betwen them, they finally decided that it was ok if they gave me the number to call the pest control myself.

Billy-Joe-Jim-Bob says that the chemical is safe for all pets including reptiles. He says its odorless, colorless, tasteless (I didn't question how he knew this) and stainless. I did forget to ask what chemical they used.

He did tell me that they would be spraying the 2nd Tuesday of every month (rotating buildings).

Now, assuming Billy-Joe-Jim-Bob isn't able to tell me what chemicals they use, should I take the snakes to work with me just to be safe? Should I cover the cages?

(I ask this after battling mites and using Mite Spray, Sevindust and Equate Bedding Spray on everything after finding mites right after I brought one of them home)

Should I worry?

Re: Pest Control

I would definitely consider removing your reptiles from the premises for the day.

They have the same stuff here (they spray every month inside our apartment) and it's partially because he is terrified of our snake room, but the guy said that this stuff will kill a snake. It's odorless, colorless, tasteless, and stainless like your guy stated. He said he would spray if the reptiles were removed for a few hours after he sprayed but otherwise he wasn't risking it. He was terrified of the snakes but at the same time he was totally serious.

So...just to be safe, I would remove them.

Re: Pest Control

thats what I was thinking. It kills bugs so it cant be completely safe for everything except bugs.

I'm sure my boss will panic, but I guess it'll keep her out of our office.
