This might sound like a stupid question. My female hog rubbed her head and snout to the point of giving herself mouthrot a while back. Well, I treated her head and mouth, and her mouthrot is much better now. But, the swelling in the front part her mouth on the upper jaw from the mouthrot has not subsided, and she can't fully close her mouth properly. Her mouth still looks healthy, except for the swelling part. It hasn't worsened or anything. Once the mouthrot is treated, doesn't the swelling go down with it? Or do I still need to treat it like a mouthrot until it subsides? What do you guys do to treat something like this?

Bry, I have 2 snakes here, one from rubbing and then MR, and the other from a bad bite to the nose. They are both healed up fine now, but they both have misshapen heads now, I'm guessing from scar tissue. It may shed out, it may not, I think they'll always be a bit deformed, but I know they are infection free. If you're sure that the infection has completely cleared up, it may just be some scar tissue, or it may just take it awhile to go down. If it persists and you think there may still be something going on, a trip to the vet might be in order. Hope that helps!

One of my females got that after having mouthrot. but after she shed it went away. now she's back to normal.
I would check its mouth thuroughly and see if there is any persisting conditions.

It sounds as if the snake may of developed an abscess. If the swelling doesn't subside soon or if you notice any drainage I would get the snake to the vet.
