Hi
I just feed my redtail, today and the rat had its lower jaw hooked on the snake. I know dont feed live prey, and i dont. i whacked the rat and it seemed dead so i layed it in the cage and it came back to life (a very little). Anyways my snake didnt get bit, but just in case i would like to know what to do if for some reason my snake ever gets a wound. I think i already know what to do but i would like to make sure. Latter on tonight or tommorow i will take a look at my boa just to make sure there is no small cut on my boa.
Thanks in advance.

you can put triple anitibiotic ointment on the wound. This will hopefully keep it from getting infected. apply it 2x a day

Well..... If its just a minor wound I would clean it with hydrogen peroxide and put Polysporin on it a few times a day until it healed. If its a nasty bite then watch out for infection and if anytime in doubt a reptile vet is the best way to go.

I'd go with the hydrogen Peroxide thing that's been mentioned. AND follow that with some antibiotic ointment like neosporin.. MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE IN THE OINTMENT BUT THE NEOSPORIN ALSO. Just get the straight stuff. I would not suggest using the betadine, if it is not diluted enough it can cause problems with your snake's health
