Regurge info
Ok just wondering what the basis is behind a baby v.s. an adult boa regurging. My guys when they were lil would gurge once in a while and the bigger ones don't ever do it.Why in your opinion do they do it. My baby male is probably 26in long and is on hopper mice. My largest girl is 7ft. Now when she was a baby she never gurged but some of my other babies did.Why do you think the lil one are more prone to it?

Re: Regurge info
There are several reasons a boa will regurge.
The most common reasons are IMO:
prey is too big
feeding too frequently
improper temps
handling after feeding
stress
I need to add: I'm not an expert on regurge. I only had one boa regurge and it was due to a heating failure. I think the reason I have avoided regurges is because I don't allow any of the things I listed above to happen.
As far as why younger boas seem more likely to regurge:
I doubt young boas eat fatty foods as often as they are given them in captivity.
Young boas are more easily stressed than large boas.
Improper housing conditions for young boa can assist a young snake to make choices in temp that may not be of his/her best interests.

Re: Regurge info
Kool I can see some of the stuff causing a regurge. Thanks for the info. My 26in baby had a hopper a few days ago and the bump is gone and he wanted out.(he tries to climb the tank he is in if he wants out.) So I let him out for a lil while and back to his belly heat he goes.

Re: Regurge info
i had one of my babies regurge several months ago, i believe cause i had bumped up her prey size thinking she was ready i waited 3-4 weeks to feed her again, then i fed her the tiniest meal i could find weekly (omg, she HATED those meals, i think she only ate them cause i wouldnt give her anything else and she was hungry LOL, i got the evil eye from her every time i opened her bin) for another 2 months after that, then i bumped her up one size, and i fed one of those every two weeks, then just slowly bump up sizes, and wait 2-3 weeks between feedings. shes doing great though shes been gaining weight and shes active and fine

Re: Regurge info
I moved to a house that I don't have a reptile room. I wish I had more room because I would have kept her. She went to a guy in the Mpls area that is gonna breed her. She is in with his albino male rite now. I get a baby from that if I really want.So depending on if I like em I may get 1 there too. But,all but 2 small corns are in my bedroom in tanks. And that has to be the hottest room I've ever slept in. Heat mats and tank lites omg it's warm.

Re: Regurge info
awwww, i wish you would have kept her too LOL, i would love it if mine reach 10ft, but i doubt they will my house is too cold actually its been below freezing for a few days i think now we had to rig up some extra heating stuff for the bigger cages, luckily the smaller snakes are staying nice and warm in their racks

Re: Regurge info
The only regurge problem I have had is when I switched from mice to rats. I did it too soon and the prey item was too large. It was a baby boa. I waited two weeks after the regurge and gave a small mouse hopper. I've had no problems since and she has gained weight.
