Hi all. Last night I woke up around 3:00 and the power was out and the temp. in my bedroom (where my rtb is) was in the 60's. It scared me really bad, and while i was worrying about it the power came back on. I figured since his UTH and the room heater were back on, there wasn't much more I could do for him. I checked on him this morning, and I couldn't see any signs of breathing, but I moved around in front of the cage and he stuck his tounge out a couple of times. Are there any precautionary measures I should take against him getting sick? Thanks in advance.

-East

I think that this has happened to all of us at one time or another. I would not do anything right away. I think that most rtb's are hearty enough to handle a short time of cooler weather. In the wild they would most certainly encounter temps of that level. If you are really concerned then you may want to raise the temp in his tank and lower the humidity a bit.
I really don't think that this would be a must at this point.
Just my opinion.

Good luck!

Ted

Hey East I wouldn't worry too much about it! Boa's and Python's can withstand temp drop's once in a while with no ill effect's. And if it's been a while since he ate last that would be even better! So if he's not showing any sign's of anything just keep your eye's on him, but I think he'll be fine!!!

Like the others have stated here. I doubt that you would run into any health related problems with a BCI for a short duration like you say. Unless of course the temps were majorly cold. The BCI is one of the snakes that is forgiving in husbandry

Actually Shadrach...The burmese Pythons are nOT like this at all. The burms do not handle temp drops well at all and even something like this could set them into the beginning of an RI. Burms are very easy in the getting sick thing
