My roomates cat has managed to get ring worm and has been all through our apt. I am not sure if this is contractable to reptiles, and am wondering what to do as I used to close my bedroom door and let my animals roam around the bed or floor for exercise. Now that the cat has been all over the place, like the couch and carpets which I cannot machine wash... Any info. will be a big help.

I have heard that ringworms are not a reptile problem...I don't have any proof though...just hearsay. I have certainly never heard of any account that a ringworm was contracted from a reptile nor have I ever heard of a reptile having a ringworm. I just did a google search on reptile ringworm....and found no mention of anything about them having them.

This should help you better understand what ringworm is,, it is not a worm and it is spreadable very easy,, ringworm can also be spread to your butt if the cat or dog that has it has been drinking out of your toilet bowl and then you sit on the seat not cleaning befour hand.. hope this helps....also im sure it wont spread to snakes or lizards as they have a diffrent skin, scale, that dont suport the organisum-fungus that it is....but then again ya never know... First off, let me say that I'm not an expert by ANY means, but I don't think ringworm can affect reptiles. Ringworm (a fungus) attacks the hair follicles.... Seeing as snakes don't have hair, I don't think it would be a problem.

My aunt came to visit once and brought a shelter cat with her (she fosters kittens). We didn't know it at the time but that little furball had ringworm. Unfortunately that little furball chose to sleep under the covers right next to my legs at night. Guess who got ringworm. I had to spray some anti-fungal stuff on my leg every day for a month and a half.

Good thing is, Jock Itch Creme will cure it.
For those too shy natured to purchase Jock Itch creme, its the same as most athletes foot cremes, such as Lotriman, Tinactin etc..

You are right about the anti-fungal cremes eddie, but.... even with the creams you have to continue the use of them for something like 10-14 days AFTER any symptoms clear up or it will flare up again. You also have to clean EVERYTHING that you and the source of the ringworm came into contact with.
