hmmm well...it's an aussie frog...why don't ya contact an aussie frog doctor? frogcrusader@north.net.au

I have no freaking idea what would be safe if anything to put on a frog sore. They absorb everything they come in contact with and are super sensitive to most chemicals. I dunno Lori...I would just try and keep it clean and stress free and hope the aussie frog dog get's back with ya.

Yeah, me neither Jul's being as it is an amphib ..UGH. I am doing all that to keep the stress level down to prevent any further goings on with it also. Colorings good, so it doesn't appear to be stressed out so to say..which is a good thing I suppose for it in the long run anyways. It has another one that's not so bad looking on the other side pararlel to that one also. BUT that one doesn't look as bad as this side does. Seems to be healing even. I sent an email off to 'em. Thanx for the info.

Any idea what caused this? Almost looks like cigarette burns. Is that a possibility?

No telling with some people nowadays.....

Any way, it does look dried out and doesn't look swollen at all.
So unless any sensetivity in the area then prolly best left alone with just a few cleanings a week with some highly diluted novalson just to cut the odds on an infection.

Its a bacterial infection that will eat a hole right through him if you don't treat it ASAP. Do not use any antibiotic creams or anything like that... amphibian skin being porous it will most likely kill them. Put some Novalsan on the spot with a q-tip. I had 3 come in with the same thing, and they all cleared up within a couple of days with 2x daily Novalsan treatments.

The end effects of this condition is really not pretty. Literally their insides come out the hole eaten through the skin. Its nasty, but pretty common in situations where too many frogs are kept in too small of a space - like in most pet stores. Or when their space isn't cleaned regularily to stave off mildew or mold in such a humid environment. One thing many people don't think about when setting up frogs is that they need humidity, but they also need airflow. They need dampness, but they also need a place to dry off. If you see some of the best 'naturalistic' vivariums, they have a fan in them to keep the air moving, even if they have a humdifier and mosses/ferns growing.

THANX!! RAV !!! I haven't done anything to this lil guy as yet.. knowing how susceptible they are to just about anything that comes into contact with their 'skin" and all. Wanted to be sure before putting anything on that at all ya know. I have novalsan on hand all the time so np there at all. I'll get some on him in a minute even as I have him here with me and not where the other reptiles are being kept even.
Didn't need those gross details though hehe ...UGH. LOL

(I told you this in chat, but for the benefit of those who can't read our minds) I don't know the name of the organism off hand, I'll have to ask the guy I got the frogs from. He should know... you can do a swab/skin scraping of the area without doing much harm if you wanted to get a look at it. The novalsan will work pretty quickly, so if you want to do it, do it fast. OOPS.. I posted this question prior to talking with ya in chat...Already applied the novalsan, but I'll try and see if I can get anything tomm then for mic anyways possibly. We'll see how it goes anyways.. Once I applied the novalsan, the frog went and kept 'rubbing' the spot with his hind leg for awhile. Guess he didn't care for it too much lol.
