well here are the symptoms my little one had. she regurged once, she had water like fluid coming out of her mnouth when i held her. when she was in my hands she would tongue flick, but not while she was in the cage. this morning i put her on her back and she flipped right over. yesterday afternoon she was active,d rinking and what not, but yesterday night she was lethargic. it seemed to happen really really quick. what do you guys think it was??? any thought or suggestions??? she was a hatcling maybe 16-20 inches or so. she didnt stargaze a lot but did every know and then. when i put her back in her acage beforee i came to work she crawled around on her branch and drank some water, then she died tonight while i was at work. any suggestions???
thanks in advance

It's impossible to say without a necropsy, but I don't feel that IBD is the culprit.
To begin with, IBD progresses slowly in boa constrictors and is a very debilitating disease. Symptoms are generally present for months before the boa finally succumbs.
Also, you mentioned stargazing. In snakes afflicted with IBD that exhibit this symptom, it's not something that just comes and goes. It is a 24/7 type of thing, and not even a slap upside the head will deter it.

thats good to hear. my sis in law (she is a herp vet) said that it was probably a genetic defect, cause she called the people who bought the other boas, and they are doing fine, and eating well. thats good to know though. thanks

The symptoms sound more like respiratory infection.
When the snake has a resp infection...they will usually have fluid drip from the mouth and sometimes they actually like to prop their head up....making it look like stargazing.
Get your boa treated for the resp infection and I bet it returns to normal.
Go ahead and increase the temps whil waiting for an appointment with the vet.

It definately sounds like it was a resp. infection.
With some secondary stomatitis.
