So this year, I had the very nerve racking and scary condition of dystocia to deal with in a 9 year old Gonyosoma [elaphe] prasinus
after laying 10 good eggs, and 2 slugs, it appeared that the last egg was stuck and was unable to pass through the oviduct.
This can be a very serious condition and left untreated will usually prove fatal to just about any snake.
Left untreated it most certainly eliminates any future reproduction.
It was noticed several hours after it had finished oviposition and at first, left the snake to try and pass it on its own.
I gave her around 36 hours, and tried manually moving the egg, and quickly realized it was not going anywhere, and decided to spare her that stress.
I tried swimming her in a tub with slightly warm water, around 80-82 for an hour.
This did not seem to move the egg at all either.
Not wanting to risk loosing this animal, who has been with me since 1998 I decided to aspirate the egg.
Pic of the snake with stuck egg:

Bottom shot:

restraining the animal before and after removing egg contents with a syringe and needle, interestingly she remained perfectly still and did not struggle or move at all during the whole process.

After shot of belly:

the whole snake to show overall size

6cc's of material removed from the egg.
I think the reason this egg would not pass normally is that it was about twice the size of a normal egg.

24 hours after removing the goo from the egg, she passed it normally, and perfectly deflated.
after being in a isolated sterile cage in a quiet room for a few days, I returned her to her normal setup, and she began feeding almost immediately.
She seems totally back to normal now.
one positive thing about this whole experience..
she doesn't try to bite me anymore, and I can pick her up free handed now.
and her eggs are due to hatch in about 2 weeks, so far they all look perfect.
