Lysol and other air fresheners
Are there any herp and amphibian safe air fresheners? I have heard lysol and some brands are toxic, is this true? the room gets kinda stale smelling after being closed up all winter, not stinky, just kinda off and want something to take it out of the air until I can open the windows in spring to let it air out. My main worry if the amphibs, but I need to do something. Before anyone asks, everything is kept clean, its not a stink, just stale.

Ditto that... just stale here, too. I use a candle warmer that melts the wax without burning off the wax into the air like a flame does... that only covers up the smell but it works for me whenever I'm working in the room.
My main problem is the humidity kinda makes the staleness worse.. lol it's like 57% right now but the dehumidifier just came on... only takes it down to about 50% though. If I crack open a window a little bit it sucks the humidity right out, but... unfortunately it's snowing right now so it too cold. lol

I live at the lake, so the musky smell was always there (especially when it got too cold to air out by opening the windows). I simply got some house plants along with a fan in the back of the room behind the plants. For a list of non-toxic plants you can check with Animal Poison Control Center, or BLUEBEAST REPTILE

I use plants, and I will lightly spray away from the cages with Febreeze. I occasionally open the windows to air out the room, especially if there's a warmer rainstorm. It will get my cornsnakes "in the mood" and my green tree pythons like the humidity. Lysol and other strong scented pine cleaners are toxic as they contain oils in them. Stay away from those.

candle warmers are good, a mellow scent is best if you ask me. if cleaning is that present in its necessity, then use wipes for the rest of the room, dont need to use the spray. open the windows while you do this to make sure the minor vapors arent too much.

There is a product called "odor-ban". We use it in houses that are deplorable. We spray it ,then go in a day or two and start working. At home we put just a little bit in a container. It doesnt cover, actually gets rid of any odors from ferrits, praire dogs, and anything else. Comes in a gallon jug, but last forever.

We use dryer sheets (bounce with febreeze). Stick some in the corners of the room. It helps us get rid of the stale air problem.
