I have had my Redtail for about 2 years. Luckily, I have never had any problems until now. My snake has recently devoloped a small sore on the top of his nose. I have a wire screen top and yes he can reach it. I think maybe he has been working on his Harry Houdini act. My question is how to treat the sore. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
Oh yeah by the way I have never even had mites is this possible?

Hi Tinchcoltsfan,
To address the nose rub problem, the best bet (and probably cheapest) is to get some Neosporin and apply 1-2 times daily. Don't 'cake' it on, but use enough so that it won't get too dry and crusty! It will take a good deal of time if the rub is bad, but with some perseverance you can get your snake past this. Also, I would suggest that you remove the wire screen top and replace it with something else. Maybe a piece of Plexiglass with holes drilled in it for circulation. If you go this route, make sure to use something that will allow you to lock the cage top. Or better yet, move him into a bigger enclosure with no wire at all! But that is the ideal scenario...
I have had several nose rub problems, and conquered (or am conquering) them all. Drop me a private message if you need additional info or if you need the name of a different product that you can use to keep infection at bay!

Hey thanks Ti, It has only been a couple of days and it is almost healed up. Sure is nice to have a place to come and get good advice. I also moved him into a 80 gallon aquarium. That should help prevent future problems. Again thanks for the help!
