I know of a Blue tounge in extremely bad
shape .Emaciated and I'm guessing extremely dehydrated.
Will not take food on it's own, does take some hand fed.

Would I treat him as you would a snake in similar condition??

Are parasites the most likely culprits??

This animal does not belong to me and I may not be able to access it for
another 5-6 days.

To maybe give you some idea of his condition, his tail is shortened
withered and I'm guessing has next to no reserves left.

hehe..That worked.. caught my attn lol.
umm..hmm.. Could be many different things actually. Is the BTS housed with anything else at all ? They tends to stress easily for one thing. Try soaking ther lil guy fopr one thing if tyou think it's dehydrated. BUT be careful.. they are lazy when soaking and need VERY shallow water for such. Keep fresh water available at all times for drinking. I find the BTS don't drink often but when they do, they go to town on it. As for the feeding.. if it will eat by hand ..offer food that way .just to keep it eating. these lizards eat just about anything so offer a wide variety of feed items also. Won't hurt to have it checked for parasites either.

What was the stuff called you add to the water for soaking, went
looking through the forums couldn't find it.Do you suggest using this??

He's in a large outdoor enclosure w/ other BT's (all healthy) and a couple
of frillnecks Looks to me big enough for all of them.

Couldn't find a caresheet on BT's ,how much does a healthy one eat in a day??

A healthy one will pound a lot of food ina day. I would recomend separating it and giving it some TLC and maybe some B12 to stimulate the appitite.

I use either gatorade or pedialyte for rehydration on my reptiles here. Umm.. Even if the enclosure is big enough , the bTS can still get stressed out. Needs to be moved into it's own enclosure then also for one thing. YEAh..Like bw said.. they can eat a LOT of food each day. Sometimes mine eat like evry other day though, but offer food every day none the less anyway. What's you email? I have a care sheet..just haven't pasted/written it out for my page on em yet is all..

Well actually I go with the whitish clear one when using that stuff. Makes it easier to see if anything is going on with em.. easier than if they soak in red and turn red that is lol. ok.. I'll send ya what i got in a minute then...

Just updating...
Went back to where the skink was kept, it had been euthanized.
Probably the best idea, the fella was in real, real trouble.
