Constipation!
My blood has not pooped in MONTHS!!!!!!! Now this has happened before to other snakes of mine and a soak or two has done the trick. BUT not with this girl! I moved her to her new enclosure in January. I i have NOT cleaned ANY poo from her enclosure since. I have soaked her on NUMEROUS occasions to no avail. NOW I AM DESPERATE! She looks bloated. And is acting lathargic. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Warm soaks for about an hour a day usually do the trick. If not, try giving it a few drops of mineral oil...a natural laxative will probably work. There is a way to force a poop, but I would only recommend that as a last resort. I know you said you've tried soaking, but let's get some details. How are you soaking? How long? What are the water temps? How frequently?

soaking in a tub, half of it is on a heating pad, i dont know the temps of the water, but slightly warm?? for an hour sometimes longer and i would say that with tonights soaking this will be the 3rd time in say 2 weeks.
My history: i've kept balls and red tails for 20 years or so and soaking has always worked! I have NEVER, EVER seen this first hand before in my life.
If she does not release something tonight, anything, i am thinking that i need to move on to "the last resort"!

How does the rat compare girth wise to her? I would think a female blood at 3' should be on medium rats at least

I would either try and bump her up to 2 smalls or on a more frequent feeding schedule. Just keep on soaking a couple few times a week and you'll have a big suprise one day!!

Oh wow. Just keep soaking is really all you can do and give a tad bit of mineral sprits. Also, what type of bedding is in his cage?

Dude...pork...stop giving advice...period. You are going to kill someone's snake. You are a nice guy, but that's enough. Stay here and learn and play...but no more advice. Mineral spirits is a solvent...paint thinner. How about you go chug some and come back and tell us how you feel. Mineral OIL is a laxitive. But that isn't the issue. This snake should be on large rats. Not small and not medium. He's simply hanging on to his inadequate meals trying to get some nourishment out of them. When he does poop, it will be nothing but a tuft of hair that comes out. Feeding more frequently is certainly not the answer. He's probably depleting the crap out of his enzymes as it is. More often than once a week is never a good idea with these snakes. He just needs more food...bigger food!

Yep large fat rats for the lil chub a lub...Bloods are stocky snakes by nature..My BP did that too, wouldnt poop..only she actually got to where she didnt shed properly..I finally asked and was told to increase the food size and WHAM she pooped and shed fine They just grow so fast its sometimes hard to keep up with..You blink and they arent babies anymore

Right or wrong, surely this could have been done via PM...
But...after fully reading the thread, I agree 100%, increase food size to LARGE! dont double up on smalls, or increase feeding intervals
just feed the proper sized rodent

I said he may want to do that with the feeding because he said he has a lot of small rats. I have fed 2 rats to Ruby may times with no problems
