Well, as some of you may know, I have a new addition, thanks to the White Plains Expo, a second boa. Her name is Bill. Bill is currently housed in her own home in a separate room from Ted. I never handle Bill before I handle Ted and I always wash my hands after handling Ted and before I play with Bill. Bill is going to shed soon, so after that, vet checkup. But what are the basic quarantine rules that I should follow? There aren't any mites (that I can see). If so, one would think that I should change clothes prior to handling one and then the other. Or just handle on different days. Advice? Can snakes smell another snakes scent on you?

Secondly...do I need a separate feeding tote for each or can I share the same one.

Definitely feed in separate containers. Use different feeding implements as well. Wash and disinfect your hands between handling of each snake. If mites are suspected, I would recommend usind Provent-A-Mite. Great stuff. Never mix anything between snakes. Prey, enclosures, tools, water dishes, hides, etc. etc.. Your best bet would be to practice the same sterile procedures as hospitals use. Within reason of course.

On the flip side of this....once quarantine is over....how do you go about introducing them to each other?

And before you wise guys start I don't mean by saying "Ted, meet Bill." or "Bill, this is Ted." Nyaa, nyaa beat ya to it.
