Ok, my BCI seems healthy and happy. He's got some old scars and is pretty rough on his back side...rat got him b4 i rescued...but up near the middle of his body, he has a bump it's about the size of your pinky fingernail and is slightly raised up above his skin. Not too much but noticable. It gives way when I press it and almost seems like it is filled with fluid. I'm thinking it may be a cyst. It wasn't there very recently, i just noticed it tongiht. I'll prolly end up at the vet but any ideas on what it may be and if it is a cyst, will the vet just drain it and give some antibiotics? Do snakes get them regularly without reason or is something wrong in my tank that would cause it? TIA
E.

Parasites can do that too, but most likely a cyst.
Cysts can be caused by a number of things, so don't beat yourself up over it.
But typically, the cyst will be drained, a check will be done for internal parasites and antibiotics will be given in either shot form or a topical ointment.
Some times worm treatment will be done if parasites are determined to be the cause.
