Scarring
As many of you know I recently added a beautiful Suri to my collection and so far everything going well ( has 2 feeding down with no issues) and I am niot starting to get her a bit tame. Anyway I was holding her today and noticed small scars on her rear 1/3. Most are a bit smaller then----> l the size of theat lower case L. One is about the same size and there are only Id say 4 or 5. Im not overly worried because they arent raw or infected but my question is can you heal scars or is it going to be a permenant thing. I know Monty had a scratch about a year ago from stretching from his tree and falling on the endge of his cage whcih I applied Zoo Med Repti Wound-Healing Aid to and it cleared up and healed with no scar. Will the stuff do anything for scars? Or any other "home remedies"? Thaks guys.

Cocoa butter...? I know that helps get rid of some small scars that I have, but I'm not sure if such a thing is safe for snakes.
I don't know anything about that Repti-Aid stuff, sorry I couldn't be much help. =\

That's a good question, Joker...I have a very larg female rescue boa (over 7 feet) and she has 10 or 15 HUGE scars from rat bites....I was wondering the same thing.....she has shed a few times since I got her but I can't tell a difference in the scars....I wonder if vitamin E oil would hurt them? I have seen it work wonders for scars on people....does anyone know if it would cause any problems on the snakes?

LMAO I was just talking to my wife and we came to the same conclusion about Viteman E. I dont know for sure but I think the large scars might be a lost cause. But maybe somone will post here and have a solution. Im pretty sure the scars on my Suri are from bites or scratches too, he said he was feeding live rat pups, I dont know that much about rats but I guess I was picturing pup as fairly harmless, maybe I was wrng, witrher way shes pounded 2 frozen weaned mice for me twize in a row for me so shes safe from live now.

Yeah, I think you are probably right about the big scars...mine eats f/t great now and is safe from live, as well....I just don't see how someone can watch a huge rat, or mouse, for that matter, hurt a snake that ....it just makes me sick...good luck with your scratches...as small as they are, they will probably heal very well and with a couple of shed, they will probably disappear Good luck with her!
