Holes in bottom scales
My Burm just shed (full piece) and I was cleaning up the cage and moving him around when i noticed that there are about 3 perfect circles missing in his bottom scales. The holes go all the way through the bottom scales.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks
Kevin

Well I am not really sure never had it happen nor do I want to have it happen lol, But I keep my humidity around 50-65% mainly it stays at 65%, But scale rot is caused by having the humidity in the high numbers like 80-100% for a while like prolly a week or so maybe more, But I belive scale rot is that the scale is jsut to damp and wet and it just starts to rot like a bad apple. But I do suggest u have the humidity around 50% all the time and have it up around 65-70% when he is sheding, 30% seems a little to low like around desert humidity. But if u managed to have ur burm shed a full piece then thats pretty good.

What kind of holes? Can you give us a picture?
I also agree. I used to have a burm and I kept him at 65% humidity all the time. 30% is way too low.

I assume these holes are in the shed, not the live scales? Assuming so, do the live scales look ok in the coresponding areas?
I'm thinking you don't have a skin problem, assuming above is correct.... You have a humidity problem though, 30% humidity would certainly cause pieces to be missing in a shed, way too low as others said.

The holes are not in the shed, they are actually in his bottom scales.
I've had my snake for 11 years now and his cage has always been around 30%-40% humidity, then raised to about 50%-60% when he was about to shed.
I was obviously misinformed. I need to hunt down a book that I bought when I first bought Argus, According to the book, my humidity levels are ok.
I am not disagreeing with you guys, but Im just trying to defend my actions. Ive seen yas get all hostile on irresponsible people.
Maybe the information has been changed since then????
Anyways, here is a picture of one of the holes...like i said, there are 3 of theese.

like a perfect hole, did you have mites at one point? or ticks, maybe it was a hole from a mite or tick that grew overtime, that big one looks like it's right were a blood vessel could be judging from the stain, i mean it's too perfect of a circle to be a stain, looks in the top left like you may have another starting

Have you ever seen those before? Looks like its been there for a while by what I can see. Look at the bottom of the big hole. it looks like it was a tear of the flesh then is started to heal back up where it has the redish brown color

Mild case of scale rot. Get you some neosporin and rub it daily till clear. Scale rot comes from left over waste in a cage even after being cleaned, bacteria when combined with moisture and heat will cause this. Only way to be sure its gone is to clean the cage with a mixture of clorox and water and let air dry.

Ya, It didn't happen over night. Since it was caught at an early stage its no big deal. It can easily be reversed in the right direction if you treat it like shadrach said.
