Red face red/pink spots on my balls belly?! lots!

hi i've noticed that around the belly near the parts of the snake where the skin hasnt been properly shedd yet. hes got lots of red spots there. what could this be? hes otherwise a healthy snake, but came from a really bad pet store. im changing his substrate(dirty sand, full of urea excrement and nasty things like that, which came with his terarium) to paper towels to moniter his health for the meantime but i have a lot of new sand. would this be adequite for my snake to be healthy unnt happy.

any form of info in relation would be great.
thanks, Steve

you dont want to use sand cause they tend to get it in there mouths and become compacted, and that is a major pain for us and them, so I would either switch to newspaper or something,if its calci sand that is great stuff though.

Talking calci sand= DEATH SAND!

"Hi, can everyone post their opinions of this sand, im trying to get someone to recognise the dangers of this sand, and they wont take my advise because i am 17 and apparantly know nothing, so could you post your opinions of this deathsand please"

this quote was taken from threptilerooms.com, although they were reffering to geckos and and beardies using this sand. i'm probably more concerned about the look of the setup which is stupid really. so thanks for the info. the repplies to this thread were mixed. but anythings an improvement for my new snake at the moment.

thank
Steve
