Soon to have a new burm.
After chatting with Reptscue it looks like i am going to have a new burm some time early next week(as long as all goes as planned).he is going to need a bit of TLC but i think i will be able to get him healthy.here is a picture she sent me of him.

How large of a cage does an adult need?

he is 8 to 10ft right now and will use my 6x2x2 until i built him a new cage a 8wx3dx4h
Right now he is fighting a RI and has an eye infection(i will give him his shoots).

4' high is VERY difficult to keep temps right. All the heat will rise to the top...

and that cage will most likely only house it for about a year.
the formula most cage builders use is to add the length and depth and the total is the maximum length a snake can be to be housed comfortably.
So 8 x 3 = an 11 foot snake.
Remember, this snake will outgrow just about any cage. It is better to have a room sized enclosure dedicated to just the one snake.

The formula I have been using for 25 years now for big pythons is Length + 2 x Depth = . That has worked well for me and my snakes for many years. So an 8x2 cage would be just barely big enough for a 12' snake. Give less height to the cage and more width and it will last you alot longer.
