You get two species of Af-rock - python sebae sebae and the Southern African Rock python, python sebae natilensis.
The Southern African one is slightly smaller, reaching only 5-6 m in length.
Believe me, any Af-rock over 4m is a handful ...

This is true and is also why you NEVER handle them alone. If you can't guarantee at least two handlers for general daily interaction then don't get a giant, it's not a difficult equation. If large constricting snakes are dealt with in the manner that they SHOULD be, they are much much safer than any ven. A laps in concentration with a Giant might lead to a constriction, resulting in the second handler having to free you or kill the snake. A lapse in concentration with a HOT will cost you a LOT more, regardless of how many people are present.

Well I am glad I am not the only one here keeping them!
I would love to hear more about your experience with W/C's. I have one W/c, and two C/b...and to tell you the truth, my W/C is the most manageable one.
My biggest rock is 9 feet...thats my female. My patternless girl is around 6, and the W/C male is roughly 7-8 feet.
Great snakes, but you need a lot of knowledge before getting one!

How old is your nine footer? I'm guessing about 12-18 months? Do they grow as quickly as Burms/Retics? Our Domino (or possibly Dominette) is just shy of 11 feet now at about 20 months.

I have two Afrocks, one is pretty decent (most of the time)....the other one has attempted to kill me at least 5000 times!! Both are males, and I may have a female comming soon (a very large one). I will, of course, not be breeding these snakes.

Diablo is the pretty decent one, lol. He is not bad 99% of the time, and then the other 1% he is just vocal about being moved. He is doing very well here. The other one is Allister, and he is pure evil and wants to kill me every single time he sees me. He came from another person, but I am quite sure he was a WC animal.
Let me know if you get in anymore that need a home, I am always up for a challenge!!
