Re: new stripeds
those are some cool looking critters.
i been lookin around on the web i find it interesting that pretty much everyone cuts eggs.
question: when do you decide its time to cut the egg? is it after a certain time period or does the animal itself show signs that it wants out? like maybe you see some movement inside the egg or something i dunno.

Re: new stripeds
when the animals start to pip. youll see cuts form on the egg surface, slices pretty much. after the one starts to pip you may then cut the eggs to make sure all the babies get out safely. but you should be careful to not cut too many veins or you could end up losing that baby. theres a sack inside that holds the baby snake. you can break the sack but they usually do that withtheir egg tooth. some might need assistance but most dont. after a couple days the veins start to recede down the insides of the egg and you can cut a bigger hole in the egg.. it takes bout a week for them to absorb the yolk in the egg and then they exit.
if you leave them to pip themselves, they can get stuck and drown or another baby can crawl into anothers eggs and drown it that way. also some might just not make it out. once they pop that sack and start breathing then if they retreat or get caught in the egg, they might die.
theres alot of reasons to do this, mostly for the new ones health. and the methods vary from person to person but its pretty much with what feels right for the keeper.
this is what it looks like when they pip

and the first cuts.
