Re: New Burm buuuut possible RI
you don't bump the humidity up if they have a RI....
Burms do breath heavy... Mine sounds like she's hissing all the time... You will hear cracking, popping and see snot if she has a RI... Open her mouth, WITH HELP!, and see if she has excess saliva... if not, I wouldn't worry about it... Like I said... My burm always sounds like she's hissing Burms are mouthy... Is this your first?

yes first monster i lover her she is soo powerful. and she is very heavy as well i'd say 45 to 50 pounds just to estimate. im hoping this is just how she is. and no popping cracking and no bubbles of snot. just a loud breathing it was nerve racking at first because i though she was hissing but i believe that she is just breathing harder when im about to pick her up and handle her is all..

Re: New Burm buuuut possible RI
congrats on your first giant! Just make sure you always have someone there to help they are strong buggers! I have a 10ft female that's about 60lbs and she's a BIG girl! She loves her big f/t rabbits, haha... 5lbs each meal And yea, if it sounds like she's hissing when she's cruising around, I would be willing to bet it's just her "talking"...

Re: New Burm buuuut possible RI
btw, if she isn't already, get that girl on rabbits! it will help keep her at a good healthy weight and not get fat. fat burms are ugly lol. my girl only eats rabbit and she's perfect. all muscle. every once in a while I'll spoil her and she will get a rat if someone else doesn't eat it, but her normal meals right now are about 5lbs of rabbit

Re: New Burm buuuut possible RI
Burms are big snakes and they breath loud... but they are also prone to RI. Keep your eye out for any other RI symptoms.

Re: New Burm buuuut possible RI
Vet visit and an increase of temps would be a good place to start.

Ok, I was worried for a minute. LOL. Well, others may be able to add more advice, at this point you just wait for the vet.
