Are genetics really that big of a tell tale of a mellow snake? I know in dogs if mom and dad are mellow usually the babies are. is it the same way for snakes too?

Personally I don't believe this to be true. I have seen some of the grumpiest snakes I have ever met produce some of the most docile babies and vice-versa.
I think it is more about "Nurture" and less about "Nature". Start any snake young with regular, patient and safe handling and they will be calm adults.

I agree with certain types of snakes genetics pays a large part in how the offspring will behave. Green Anaconda experts like Ben Renick and Kelly Haler both agree that baby anacondas almost always take on the attitude of their parents. In fact Kelly Haler line Anacondas are notorious for having some of the strongest feeding responses of all the large snakes available in the trade, yet they are without question some of the most handable condas out there.

Ok, here's mine: My jamp male just shed on the 6th of this month, I fed him twice since then on the 13th and the 23rd, and now he's back in shed. Is this normal?

Were the meals on the large size? Sometimes a big meal will throw one right into another shed.....

Re: The New Keeper Question and Answer thread!
Has anyone successfully bred a retic with an african rock python? Not saying I would do that particular hybridization, but I do know that I saw a Burm x Afrock cross that took on the albino from the burm (so 75% burm, 25% afrock) and it was gorgeous... again, not saying I would hybridize my giants, but I am highly curious

FYI: Burm x Af Rock = Cateater Not sure what the 75% Burm/25% Af Rock would be called....
I know that 75% Burm/25% Retic is a "Jungle Burm" and 75% Retic/25% Burm is a "Jungle Retic"

Re: The New Keeper Question and Answer thread!
What I am about to say is at the Very Edge of the TOS.... I am bending the rules to the breaking point here.
There is only one guy who seems really into the african rock python hybrids. High End Herps - Hybrid Cateaters
Nobody seems to like him very much. While I would imagine it would be possible but difficult to breed a bateater with an afrock or a cateater with a retic, I can't imagine anybody except for maybe HighEndHerps who would want to. And if he's successful, I can't imagine that anyone would want one.
Me personally? If he were selling gold plated Platinum Black Eyed Leucy spider jungle retics (yes I just make a bunch of junk up) for $20 each, I don't think I would buy one.

Great question Alex! A lot of people say you can keep them in a rack but from what I have seen they need a bit of room. Super Dwarfs like to push if they are in small cages and a nice 4x2 is perfect and the SD's sure seem to like the extra room.

When you try and sell fake morphs it does tend to upset legit breeders LOL

Re: The New Keeper Question and Answer thread!
*ideal* is really subject to interpretation.
It also depends on the adult size of the SD. Cage size will differ if the male maxes at 6 feet or at 8 feet... so I would say for either of these a 4x2 or 4x3 would work just fine.
