Re: Help.

im really sorry your having these probs, but seriously, did the breeder not notice that his vent was bruised? Why would he even attempt to sell an animal thats not im perfect health, especially being a big-name breeder? If i were you, he would be hearing from me, thats for sure, and i wouldnt be too happy at all about the situation. He needs to at the very least help with vet bills, IMHO

Re: Help.

I recall a similar thing happening to a former member named Trendkill with her burm (I think it was an albino burm). She tried literally everything. It just refused to eat for several months. Eventually, it died. She came to the conclusion that this sometimes happen with reptiles, and we don't always know why. I have wondered if it has anything to do with the genetics of albinos. Just wondering--obviously I am not knowledgeable on this.

I hope you are able to turn this one around--please keep us posted.

I've fed snakes before that kept wanting to spit the mouse back out and once they finally took it I had to act like they were a T-rex and sit there motionless, because any movement would make them spit it out again.
I sat somewhere that I could supervise him from a distance, and observed his feeding without directly 'hovering' like you said. The only time I moved after that was to put the lid on his bin when he tried to get out - after losing interest in the mouse.

Raze, we left him for a few hours in the bin, then left the food in his cage overnight with no activity. Again I suppose we'll try in the cage but I hardly think that will make such an exaggerated difference.

Actually, I asked Brad that when he brought him home - and Clark said that it was from frequent popping. I thought it was really odd, especially since it hasn't healed yet..

I wonder if it is something with Clark's line of albinos this year.. I'm not the only one to be having these problems.
Thank you for the hope instead of the criticism. We hope he turns around as well.

The difference is the unfamiliar bin and putting him in the cage after he has lost interest will not help, not to mention the unnecessary handling in between can be stressful. Feed in the cage, at night, while it is dark in the cage, with food warmer than room temperature held by room temperature tongs and make it seem alive.
Offer food every day until it eats. If you have to, try a live then offer a F/T once the snake is already in feeding mode.

Frequent popping? How many times do you need to pop a snake? And how roughly are you doing it if it leaves a bruise? The more I hear of Bob the less I like him. Have you e-mailed him yet?
