Re: Help.

You mentioned that he was "debilitated", and this should not be so, especially if he has already eaten once after being born. What are the signs of the debilitation?

I would take him to the vet for a thorough check, and if nothing wrong is found I would leave him alone in correct, quiet conditions for one week, and then try again with fresh killed (you can do it!).

Good luck!

Re: Help.

yeah, I was curious about the animal being debilitated after only a few weeks, if the animal is getting weak, it was probably that way when purchased. I wouldn't be surprised if it had never fed before.

Re: Help.

'Debilitated' - He doesn't have the strength he had before, lots of skin folds, his muscles feel 'mushy' instead of firm, he doesn't move around his cage at all..

We've soaked him some to see if he is just dehydrated or cold, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

So, we figured it must be the lack of food.. he is very young so we figured that the absence of food would have a greater affect than if he were older.

Re: Help.

that degree of debilitation doesn't happen in 2-3 weeks unless something particularly aggressive has taken hold.

Re: Help.

Sounds like you have an air of doubt, but that is how he is acting. The next available paycheck is Friday - we will have him checked out at our exotic vet.

Re: Help.

I'd like to think the ladder - he was curious and adventurous at first.

What do you think could be wrong, to make him act like he is? You know, I don't think this has anything to do with it, but ever since we got him he's had some severe bruising around his vent. It bleed minorly once - we thought maybe it was just a harsh popping experience?

My advice: take that kid to a vet.

Also, I agree with alot of other posts on here: feed live to get a good feeding response at first, then attempt f/t.
