Question for the Burm owners.
well my wife is still on her i want a burm kick every since i got my 2 new boas. i know i have stated my dislike of burms, but my friend i recently became partners with has 3 that are his pets. one about 4 foot and the other two are around 12 foot. all three are puppy dog "tame". so i decided a burm wouldnt be so bad, and now since we have the warehouse i have plenty of room for it when it gets really big. my friend told me he knows where a 6 foot burm is for sale that is just as docile as his. my question is do you think i should go with one that is already "tame" or go with a baby, and let me and her "tame" it down? i have had burms in the past and i got all of them when they were over 5 foot and 2 of the 3 were tolerable, and the 3rd was the spawn of satan. (shes the one that tried to kill me lol) i have talked to her out of the albino burm and into a normal. i showed her alot of stuff on the problems the albinos can have that boaterr provided me with. so wuda you guys think. im just looking for some opinions.

Re: Question for the Burm owners.
Interesting question, actually.
On the one hand, there are MANY adult burms that NEED rescuing, though some will probably have pretty bad attitudes.
On the other hand, buying a baby burm is only encouraging the breeding of a snake that shouldn't be (anymore). You are much more likely to get a nice, calm, "well mannered" snake by getting a hatchling but you will not be helping reduce the number of neglected adults and you will be participating in the continuation of breeding projects.
If you could find a baby burm that needs adopting, I say go for that. Otherwise, assuming you are a competent, experienced keeper, adopt an adult.

Re: Question for the Burm owners.
Tame should not be in the options when buying a wild animal especially a reptile. If you want them tame keep them in the fridge or too cold to fight back (being sarcastic hear nobody try to tame your snake by putting it in the fridge).

Re: Question for the Burm owners.
Personally, were it me, I would go with the baby and raise it. But I generally prefer to do that because I feel like you know the snake and its quirks better that way. Could be a load of bull but that is just my personal take on things. So far as getting a burm just because your wife wants one, I think I expressed my pinion on that way back when you first got here. Just be sure that it's something you want too so that the snake doesn't end up having to pay when your wife decides she doesn't want it anymore in the event that it bites her. Just my two cents.
