Thanks. I had to buy another 7 cubic foot freezer, thse retics sure do know how to eat. I cannot wait until they get some real size on them so I can start buying some small goats at the local livestock auctions. It's funny to me that the bigger they get the cheaper it is me to feed them since I know a ton of ranchers that are always looking to thin their livestock supply

Re: Reticulated Python and Burmese Python Vids

Im still getting into the biggees, but wouldn't smaller to moderate pigs be better than goats? We used to raise goats, and they can get pretty good sized. Aren't you afraid of your retic & burm becoming obese? That's what I plan on doing for a while....feeding fetal/weaner pigs, once Ricky needs food that large.

No pigs would not be better, pigs are full of fat. Stillborn pigs are not as good a food source as prey items that have been eating and gaining muscle for months such as adult rabbits. As far as obesity you have to use common sense, if I gave one of my snakes an adult goat I would not give that snake another meal for months. Also feeding pigs can be risky, pigs rot very fast and more than a handful of retic owners have either lost animals or had animals that got sick from feeding them a bad supply of pigs.
