Culture test came back.
In case anyone was wondering Precious's test came back. Blood tests were normal but culture test resulted in:
Organism #1 abundant growth: Klebsiella Oxytoca
Organism #2 abundant growth: Enterobacter cloacae
Organism #3 light growth: Coagulase negative staph
It seems all 3 can result in Pneumonia symptoms or Bronchitis symptoms and all 3 can be found in people and reptiles. I guess I am the idiot who caused this, I will know for sure when my blood and culture test come back. The good news is all 3 are sensitive to Amikacin. If it does not reduce the bacteria count, we will have to give Piperacillin injections as well as more Amikacin. Stupid zoonotic diseases. Here is some decent reading on one. Thank you. Just so everyone knows this is possible any time you or your reptile is sick, so if you are sick and have to clean cages, wear gloves and a mask. Also kissing reptiles, not a great idea.

Those are some impressive sounding names of pneumonia-causing critters!  Hope you are OK and everything will soon be "nice and clean" again. Good thing science is advanced to keep up with a lot of these strains of bacteria/viruses with effective meds! |
