burm
my 3.5 ft normal burm is starting to stay in her water for very long lenghts of time. i got her a few weeks ago had her checked by a vet. we also gave her something for mites and ticks. when i first got her i had her in the tub. since then she spends long periods in water. i treated her agian for tics mites and cleaned cage agian just to be sure.i live in montreal but i iam in toronto and will be for one more week. so it is just my girlfriend taking care of all the critters. ..............so my question is if she has no tics and mites what might cause her to do this. could it be she really does like the water that much. i was just sort of curious and wanted to get the proper info in case it was something.....................also she stays in her water most of the night. she is an active snake but not overactive........any advice

Re: burm
Temps over all about 80F and humidity 50% - 60%? I know you know that but it is the first thought that jumped into my head.

Re: burm
Maybe the humidity is a little low and she is soaking water up from the dish instead...
All my snakes love the water dish and travel to and from it on a regular basis, in particluar when the humidity drops some they will sit in the dish soak up water and take it back to the basking area with them

Re: burm
She could be due for a shed. If not, try misting the cage periodically to keep the humidity up and see if she still continues to soak as much

Re: burm
she shed about a week ago. one peice. my girlfriend checked it for ticks and mites. she loves the bathtub. im inclined to believe that she just loves the water. what about scale rot could this be a concern. thanks for the info.
