thank you
as some of you know i went house hunting in ontario today. we were passing by a country road and out of nowhere we passed an animal shelter. my girlfriend wantsd to check it out so we did. it was sad to see so many unwanted animals. you have probably guessed by now there was a burm. the man knew nothing about the history except to tell me he was quite the biter. i asked if i could hold the snake. he gave me a pair of gloves to wear.stupid me didnt wear the gloves. but stupid me didnt get bit.the guy told me i was the first not to get tagged. 5 minutes out of the place i was on my cell to my daughters vet. she saw us within the hour. couple of ticks and mites and was treated right away. im in montreal now and will bring a fecal to my mtl vet when it happens. i will get him her sexed later.this snake has a good home with heat and hides and a tub of water. i will post pics soon. i will even admit i had tears in my eyes after i left the place. this snake is a sweetheart. once agian thank you for your support it meant a lot to me. i will keep you posted.........good health lloyd

Re: thank you
Wow, what are the chances? It was obviously meant to be. I've been visiting animal shelters for years and have never seen any kind of snake there, much less a burm.

I think that the Colorado Reotile Rescue is up in your neck of the woods Star.
Adoption.com - Information on International, Domestic, Child & Agency Adoptions, Stories, Laws -
Try them. I know a couple of years ago they had to put down quite a few reptiles because they could not find homes for them. Of course they will not adopt out to breeders and you have to give your life history on their application forms but they do have snakes usually. They also charge $55 plus a $10 fee just to apply to adopt but they have some stuff that is well worth it if you can pick it up. Their shipping fee is a total rip off at $100

Re: thank you
Colorado Rescue is very difficult to get a hold of. They don't return calls and don't respond to online applications. I tried to adopt from there a few years ago and was not able to get through! You can view their snakes online, but it's a big tease.

Re: thank you
Unless they've moved they are at 13941 Elmore Rd in Longmont .
Just give them a visit. BTW, I really do not like them for their willingness to put down animals rather than allow/make it easier to adopt them out.

Re: thank you
I have no reason to go there, especially since is is a 45 minute drive, and they show animals by appointment only. It is a private residence. It is unfortunate that they do not respond to calls or online applications. Frankly, I do not have the time to keep trying. I do not wish to adopt any more snakes at the moment. Sadly, a lot of their rescues end up at Scales and Tails, the main chain of reptiles stores in Denver where I bought my two snakes.
P.S. Where do you live in Colorado?
