Got talked into buying a burm
I do not know how it happened but my girlfriend tricked me into getting a burm. It looks like by saturday I will be sharing the house with a 2 foot normal burm. To be honest I have a little bit of fear towards burms due to being constricted by a 9 footer at a pet shop when I was 13. I have to wait for a couple of supplies to come in the mall then I will bring are little girl home. I really wanted a retic but I want my girlfriend to be happy so I will get the burm and just add a retic in a couple of years. I will post pictures when we go pick her up. Now time to get some free weights, I am going to have to gain some muscle fast!
regards, Terrance

Re: Got talked into buying a burm
Snakes are snakes, congrats on the new addition. My only preference for reptiles is the larger the better, but everyone has their limits salt water crocs and nile crocs do give me the heeby jeebys.

A like the large ones so that I do not have to constatly worry about them cutting stuck in small corners of my couch, or trying to squeeze into the vents. I assume that my burm will mature at about the same rate as the retic I was going to get, so my planning will not be that different. It is just hard for me to believe that my little female will probably weigh over 125 pounds in the next 4 years.

Did you adopt or buy a normal burm?

Re: Got talked into buying a burm
I enjoy my larger burms alot. Thats a big key as you never have to worry about them getting "lost" anywhere.
post pics and good luck. If you were fine with getting a retic then whats the difference with a burm? Both get very big either way and with my expericence retics have always had more attitudes then any burm.

Someone I know bought a burm from the pet store, and his parents found out. So I decided to give the little girl a home. I am really furious that someone I know personally would dare buy a snake of this magnitude without doing the research, but I plenty of time to be angry. For now I have to learn as much as I can about burms as quickly as I can.

Re: Got talked into buying a burm
Luck you. If you had but one I might have yelled at you , when so many need homes. As much as I love my tiger retic if I could do it over again I probably would adopt a normal retic or a tiger.

Re: Got talked into buying a burm
Yeah ive adopted all my burms basically. Rescues in a sense. There all great but 2 are over 12 ft, one is almost 9 ft and the other is still so small at a mere 4 ft. i love them all. They all have the best attitudes per se. There all very docile. Maybe its all the handling or ive just gotten really lucky. In the future i want to get a nice retic maybe a purple lavender.

By reading some of your other post I can tell you are a huge advocate of reptile adoption, I could actually see you owning a shelter ina couple years.
I am looking for some pics of what a healthy adult female burm looks like. Do you think these pictures are a good example of what I should look forward to?
