Seeing as how we have know idea what you do and don't know and since you're considering taking in a extremely large and difficult to care for (adequate sized housing and food). How bout instead you tell us what you do know and what has helped you decide you are ready to take on the challenge...?

Avoid the greens. Don't support the burm breeders. Take a rescue. Quarantine for life and don't get eaten....Oh and if it gets too big, tough. Deal with it. The Florida Everglades is not a burm disposal.

My advice is think long and hard and then do it again, I do not know your age but there are many more things to consider then just can i physically house a giant snake. I know I had a huge problem finding an appartment that would let me have Mufasa, also will you have a willing friend to help you do general maintinace once the snake gets over 12 feet? Can you find a local rabbit supplier? Ha they are such a pain lol why do we bother, who am I kidding I'd never give up Mufasa.

well if you really won't a burm here's a 7 year old 15 foot 110 pounds good luck, they have an on heck of a feeding response don't ever smell like food and learn alot more about what to do incase it want to eat you. I myself have alot of exprience in snake, and some of these snakes aren't for begginers. I'm not trying to talk you out of it but your doing your research, and yes she eats 5 big rabbits a month. Good luck with you discission.

As most everyone has said, it is a big decision. Especially because a lot of the rescuers and zoos will not take them if you get spooked by a near hit, or after the first time it took 3 people to unwind and pry the snake off of you. My husband got wrapped by a retic a year or two ago and it took 3 of us, a bucket of water, tongs, a hook and 30 minutes to get her off. By the way she was only 10 feet and 40 pounds. They are however, absoluelty beautiful animals and the most gentle of the giants- in most cases. I reccommend finding someone with an adult burm and having a little quality time with it. It is one thing to hear about how large they are, and another to hold the monster. If you do get one, just always use your head. We would hate for you to lose it because you would be in the paper as &qu | |
