Just held my first burm
Well, I went to a new rat breeder I found near me. We killed a rat and I was heading out the door and he ask me if I would be interested in buying some snakes. I said I'll take a look. SO, I went up to his room and he had a few snakes in there. 2 were ball pythons, one was a 3.5 foot albino burmese python, and the last one was a 9 foot normal male burmese python. I held the big male. Oh boy did I love that or what. Felt great holding him. He wanted $75 for each ball, $75 for the albino burm, and the big male was free. I'm thinking of getting the albino burm now. The big burm had an attitude. Always hissed and acted like he wanted to strike.

Very cool! Back when I used to work at the pet store (eep!) we had a regional manager bring in a retic for the grand opening of the store. People could hold the snake and get their picture taken with it. It was gigantic... I don't remember how big exactly... but I definitely took the time to check out that snake.
In hindsight, I can't believe that the owner did it. People from the general public would just walk in and get that huge snake draped over their neck... huge liability issue there, and, as many would say, a possible danger to the herp community. But I have to admit, I still have that picture to look back on and remember how cool that snake was.

Yeah I have people to help me out. Now that I have a steady job I can afford one. I made a promiss to myself not to get one unless I were to get a steady job.

argentine black and white tegu :P
It was going to be my next animal until I came along to these snakes. But the tegu will come shortly after.

Ah, I wondered if that was it. That would be the second of two lizards we are loosely considering for our next herp. The other is the BTS. Clearly I haven't done much research on either yet, but I'm not in a terribly big hurry. The BWT is gorgeous, though. I'm a sucker for pretty lizards, if you can't tell!

Yeah black and white argentine tegus are great. Very docile tegus. Be carefull when you go to buy an argentine black and white. Some will try to sell you a columbian black and white. Columbians are more timid towards humans than argentines.

I agree with Mike, but columbians can make just as good of pets in some cases, although thoes cases tend to be rare.
