Why are burms so popular?
I am in no condition of owning such a massive animal, but out of curiousity and love for every snake I've seen so far, I can't help but to wonder. I can understand why people would want a burm. They are beautiful and quite docile snakes. But why soo many people interested? I see people getting them, as if it was goldfish. I mean, how many people really are able to keep a happy healthy adult burm? What are the cage and humdity requirements for a burm? And I don't mean minimum requirements. I can imagine it being hard as heck to keep clean, and humidity at appropriate levels. Do you guys just convert half of your house to a snake tank or something? It just seems like a quite handfull for it to be so popular. I saw one at a pet store, it was about 8' maybe. And they did not look like to be in any condition to take care of a snake that is going to be 20' long. Do people just get rid of them once their too big?

people just get rid of them when they get to big. that is why there is so many unwanted burms even petshops and zoos dont really want burms.

the requirements for a burm are some what like the requirements for a boa, i have seen people take a room out of their house and make it their burm room ? i own a burm myself, but when the snake gets too big they just get rid of them like thier nothing, some people dont understand how hard it is too care for such a massive animal. they dont reallize that eventually you'll have to feed rabbits, chicks, pigmy goats, and when they here all this stuff and think how can i afford this, o wait i cant so they just give them away!i really think it makes the keeper look bad in my opinion ? why are you thinking of getting one ?
and depending who you know its really hard to give away burms, i mean noone really wants a n 18 foot monster ? but they're are some people that do take in these anbimals whether than can afford it or not ?if your thinking of getting oone, i suggest you lookaround this for ALOT more before you make you decision.

Not really considering getting one. Just can't help but to love them. I know my limits.
Elephants are nice and docile too, but I wouldn't consider it a good pet.

i just wish everyone who was considering a burm would get them from rescues. the ones the old owners considered a disposable pet.

I think burms are such beautiful snakes and One day I'd like to get one but this won't be for about 6-8 years even more depending on how life is going. But in respects to what you said about adopting one from a rescue I think that would definatly be the way i'd go about getting one. (but like I said far future, It would not be wise for me to invest in that type of animal. yet!)
