I was wondering how you got along with keeping snakes being black. I know that 2 of my very close friends that are black and like my snakes, but don't want to handle them or anything like that. Looking is just fine. It doesn't matter if you are black or white though if it has been ingrained in you that snakes are evil but my black friends have told me that they were raised (one is from the island of St. Thomas) believing that all snakes would kill you, and the bigger the snake the bigger the evil according to some other friends of mine. But I bet you have a hard time finding anyone who wants to help you and it will get harder and harder as she gets into the 12-14 range and bigger. Better get that back in shape.

Trust me, it's not easy being a black man having snakes as a pet. A lot of us get them to attract women, but it really doesn't work because you have to realize once she realize that snake is not going anywhere, the relationship is over... Thanks DButton, i will be in tip top shape in about a week or two. Then it will be back loving and caring for my snakes for myself...

I just spoke to one of my friends yeterday who owns an 11ft albino burm. He was telling me how hard it is getting to handle the snake with very little help. It is a blessing to have someone on hand that will help you with your herps. Because right now I have a broken leg, so I'm happy to have some help from my girl and a friend of mine.

My collection is very big for only starting a year ago. I didn't intend for it to get so big.
I also didnt intend to have 5 giant snakes. I tried to find homes for the burms but everyone knows how hard that is. They were going to destroy the burms so I took them hoping someday I can find a couple of them homes. My only problem is I live in the sticks and I dont have anyone to help. I have someone watch when I have to feed or handle the burms. The only bad part is if they get a hold of me and I cant get them off the only option if to kill it. The people that watch me know to pour almost hot water on their heads. Milk and alcohol are the other options. All of these are on hand and so far the water has worked twice. If you haven't ever been grabbed by a burm trust me you dont want to. I got my snakes for company and a hobby. I have always loved reptiles and once I turned thirty I went for it. I work 6am to 2pm drive an hour home and then take care of the kids and snakes and it takes up all my time. So before you think about jumping into burms make sure you have help and time cause they wont be cute managable babies for long.
