I am one of those that believes in "Burm Disease". By the same token, this is a normal phase of great size that was kept in very sub-par conditions. So I am hopeful that it is a one time occurence.
As far as treatment, I have raised her basking spot to about 97 with the cool side at 83 so that she can help herself a bit. Since I increased the heat, She has moved under the light with her head directly in the warmest place. My IR thermometer places her head temp at 96. That seems high to me, but she has a great gradient and nature and instinct have kept these animals alive much longer than we have. She has a small waterbowl with fresh water.
At almost 70 pounds, I do not wish to use Baytril. This is for several reasons. First is the dose and administration. For a snake her size Baytril 100 (SuperBaytril) is needed. Baytril 100 should NEVER be given by means of injection under any circumstances. I can cut standard Baytril with sterile water at a 50/50 ratio to lessen the pain of the injection and reduce the probability and severity of sterile abcesses ("Baytril Burns"). I would not even know the ratio to cut Baytril 100, but I would assume at least 4-1. This leaves an oral dose. As she is going to be an educational animal and currently has a docile temerament, I do not wish to have to restrain her for the doses. Not to mention it is a 3-4 person job. I do not wish her to associate me with an unpleasant experience. This is compounded by frequency of doses (every 2 days). I am leaning toward Amakacin. Safely injectable, effective, currently on hand, and doses every 3 days. I am waiting to hear back from my vet. If we do decide to go with Baytril 100, then at least I will add a bottle of that to my kit.
Here's to hoping that it is just the sniffles and not "BD"

Well, her head is now at 86. She keeps shifting her coils working the hotest spot down her body starting at the head. Kindof neat actually.

umm to figure dosage for baytril the forumla is weight times recomeded dosage divided by concentration. Regular Baytril is 22.7 mg...so if you want a dosage of 10mg/kg and your snake weighs 31kg then you multiply 31x10 and then divide by 22.7 and the dosage is 13.7cc or ml. That's a lot of freakin baytril. All you have to do with superbaytril is replace 22.7 with 100 and the dosage for 10mg/kg is 3.1cc. Much better eh?

I know the dosage, I was referring to cutting it for an injection, hence a 4-1 ratio

I have used injectable Baytril for my 100+lb. male burm twice an dhave had no problems at all. I don't use the 100% either and it comes from the vet already diluted which is the way he gets it from his suplier. I gave him 1cc shots once a day for 1 week and he had no ill effects from the injections or at the site of the injections. I have seen bad baytril burns up close and person on a friends snake that he aquired that way and that was from the 100% baytril. It was awful.
Here is a pic of what the vet gives me for my 12 year old albino male. You may want to check with your vet and see if he has the same thing. I have a really good herp vet who explained in minute detail the different uses for the different strengths of Baytril. And told me to never use the 100% at all. I would never suggest to you anything that I even thought would remotely harm your snake. Nor would I talk about anything like this that I didn't have first hand knowledge and experience with.

just add 10 or 12 cc of water to the 3.1cc of superbaytril. That really doesn't have to be exact nor does it have to be sodium chloride or anything special when just oral. Add a twist of lime and make it a baytril sour and don't forget the little umbrella. Tropical snakes prefer their drinks served in coconut shells too.
