Where are all the older (10+ years) mature male albino burms
I see plenty of male albino burms, but not any of substantial age. I have a soon to be 12 year old male albino burm and are wondering if there are any more out there of his age. There just has to be. He is 13ft. and 95 lbs. now and has pretty well capped off in size, but he has many more years to live and I am going to make sure that he makes it to at least 20. had him since he was a 12 hour old hatchling and want to make sure he gets all he can out of his life.
Anyone else have an older mature male?

Most are dead. They are the latest in disposable impulse pets. Also, even the well equiped keepers and breeders have had a lot die off probably due to crossing them with greens and sending BD spiraling on down through their blood lines too. Before this starts into a huge BD debate though...I have no intentions in naming names or sources. So take it as my "theory" if you wish.

Sad but true I see kids at shows, yes kids, under 18, running around shows with burms. At $30 each, they are a cheap pet to acquire, altho certainly not cheap to feed and house. That's where the problems start. THey dont' work, or they live at home, or they have to go off to college. So they either end up dying from neglect, or being turned over to rescues. I really, really wish that minors could not buy giants, but I don't think that will ever happen

Well i would gather to guess, that either the common thought of many die due to poor care, and loss of interest when they get big. Another idea is many are in the rescue/ adoption system with no idea of actual age. Or the males were used heavily in breeding programs to multiple females, took off too much wieght due to fasting, from more interest in breeding than eating, and died an early death.
Just a few guesses on my part I may be far off.

People pay for burms?
My oldest right now is 18... but he's a normal. I recently had a 13 year old female albino pass away on me suddenly for no apparent reason.
I have two albinos now, three and two years. Unfortunately there are very few burms of significant age out there, most are dumped to rescues or dead to poor care by the time they are 3.

Yes, but even at shows, the albinos are not out of range for young buyers. Still, a sad fate out there for many burms, no matter the morph

Thanks for the replys guys. I am glad to hear about you having an 18 year old normal male Ravnos. Even the older females seem to be scarce nowdays. I will just keep taking care of my albino male the way I have been and he should live to be at least that age. I guess alot of it is just the size issue and people just get rid of them when they get over 10ft.. I had first hand experience with large burms over 18ft. long before I got him and knew exactly what to expect.
I have a 2.5 year old normal female who is already over 12ft. and growing like a weed. Got a long road ahead with her too, but I am prepared and excited to see her grow up and mature. They are such majestic creatures and I can't imagine ever giving her up.

I couldnt imagine giving up any of my snakes...no matter what in the future if i need to get rid of something, it will be my little stuff like Leopard gecko, or pacman frog or my emperor scorpions, i will always make room for my Boa, ball python, and Rock python
