Gecko Rehab

Okay all.. Need some help here. Friend of mine brought over his gecko's, tank and all.. To me lastnight for me to try to Rehab them. He's a first time Herper, so he did reading on the internet as well as what he was told by there person he got them from. Unfortunetly I feel it was incorrect information and now these poor things are suffering..

I believe them to have calcium defeciancy.. They are in a 20gal tank.. with sand that i'm not sure of what type.. that will be coming out today..

I added lastnight moss over the heated side so as to help them with there excess sheds that were left on. I was albe to clean all the extra shed off.. I think possibly the worst one will lose her right hand due to the lack of curculation that was going on.

They had no UVB lighting what so ever, they did have an under tank heater for some belly heat and a heat red light for some added heat. Problem being is that light is not putting off enough heat for these guys.

They are not eating at all, when they do, my friend says looks like there tongue is too big for there mouth and they can't swallow.

So I could use some advice guys.. I've never dealt with a calcium deficency like this before. These two little girls walk on there elbows instead of there feet. I have a few pictures you guys can see from it that they are just pathetic.. I was thinking of trying some wax worms just to see if they will eat it.. but if all else fails I would like to know what to use for hand feeding.. like baby food or what not..

Ok first off forget the UV bulb leopard gecko's are nocturnal animal's, so there's no benifit from it! Ok let's see they won't eat? Get you some plain yoguart and baby food (chicken flavor) seem's to be one of the best kind's. The baby food will give protien and the yoguart will give them calcium. You'll also need a syringe to feed these little girl's with. Kind of go by size when feeding, from what size they look like to me go with about 5 tenth's of a cc to start with. But I really would run these girl's to the vet ASAP he may be able to give you some pointer's or some medicane to help!!!

Okay, I just saw this on my way out...
Leopard Geckos don't need UV, as they're nocturnal. They do however require calcium suppliment...
If they can't swallow, I'd recomend giving them puree'd crickets and mealies via eye dropper...it is very important to get these guys to a vet ASAP ..a qualified vet of course..I'll be back on later, to give you more in depth details/instructions...oh, and take them off of the sand!
If anything, put them on paper towels...babies are at a high risk of impaction, especially little ones like these.... [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_cry.gif[/img]
Oh, yeah...Good on ya' for taking them in!

EDIT: Okay, I posted right after shad, so we kinda said the same things...about the baby food, make sure there are NO onions! Onions will KILL them.

ummm wasnt there an article here awhile back where someone had to rehab geckos like these? I cant seem to find it though but I do remember reading something about it. Maybe someone else here can have better luck finding it than I did.

Good luck getting these poor things turned around and in good health.
