Leos not eating.
Well, it's become fall and both my adult leos have stopped eating almost completely. I rarely will notice any stool in their cage. Are anyone elses leos stopped eating too? I would guess they can sense the change of seasons and it does drop a little lower then normal at night, while still being in the correct range. Maybe this little temp. drop has got them thinking it's time to stop eating. They are also much less active, only moving about to go to the warm side. Anyone else experiance this?

Hi Jeff!
You also recently moved to somewhere that is a different altitude (from sea level) and quite possibly a greater range in barometric pressures as well.
I am one that thinks barometric pressure plays a larger role in reptiles than many feel. Afterall, if the temps and humids stay at a constant year round, what else can let them know that a season has changed?
It hasnt gotten too chilly here yet, todays low is 62 and high is 82, but they are all still eating, mealies and crix.
Have you compared several thermometers to make sure their temps are still good?
Humids etc still good?
Changed food items to see if they have a preference at this moment?

Hey eddie, welcome back. Yea, never really thought of that. That move is quite a change for the animals, good thinking. What is odd though is my Uromastyx is eating more then usual. He's becomeing quite the pig. Also, my little baby has had no changes in feeding. I guess the adults were just too set in their ways and this change has effected them somewhat. I'm going to go down to town in a couple of days and pick up a couple dozen large crickets to see what effect I get. I may have to feed them in separate 10 gallon tanks so they have an easier time catching the crickets. I hope they start back on mealies soon! They are so easy to deal with.
Thanks for the help.

One thing that we do to make it easier to catch crix on slow learners, eaters etc, is to put them in a plastic shoe box with the crix.
It's an in your face type environment for them and they get good quick.
Glad to see you wandered back in here man!

Yes, that's a great idea. I was thinking about just pulling the legs out so they can't use them, but still are attached. This is what I do for my baby. It makes them much easier to catch. I know my female has always loved when I gave her some cricket treats but usually she's a good girl and eats the mealies. Maybe she needs a change.
Yes, I decided that I wasn't on any active forums and I needed to get back into the groove of things. Plus Natas was real nice and helped me set up some things for my site. So I decided to join up with RTB again. Thanks for the welcome back.

Success!
Well I got some crickets for them today and my female took 3 huge ones! My male could care less but I suspect he's still eating mealies, just not as much as he used to. I was mainly conserned about my female. But I feel better now that she has something in her stomach. I'll try feeding her some more tonight. Thanks for the idea Eddie.

My geckos have slowed down on thier eating lately also. They still eat but not as much. It's funny how they can sense the season changes even though the temps in the tanks dont change.

Well, with different food types my leos are beginning to eat pretty normally again. I sure hope I can get them on mealies some time soon. Crickets are so hard to deal with.
