Found this site and figured I would run my plans by you guys.
First I hope to buy various "high quality Leos from various breeders." Hopefully some rare color morphs. I figure I will have 3-4 females and 1 male. I think I will create the inclosure of plywood and have a reti-carpet substrate. The inclosure will probably be 64"L X 24"W. I know to have hide boxes and a few humid boxes with a moist substrate. My main question was if I breed them will I have any problems ( I guess the words wold be getting rid of them.) I cant be overun by Geckos. Thanks
JJ

I think you could "get rid" of them easy enough...just whether or not you'de get the price you want may be the issue. Going in to reptile breeding as kind of a mini-business I've always thought of as 'shakey' at best. At least I'm assuming with the quantity of females you're considering, that's whats on your mind. There are others here with better knowledge of the Leo end of things that could give you better info. I believe.
...and welcome to RTB!

Hello,
Welcome to RTB.net
Your setup is good, keep in mind its good to have more hides the the amount of gecko's.
You will need to keep the male seporated from the females other then in breeding season (December - May). Leo's are usually pretty easy to sell but make sure you have backup plans and cages for all the baby's and its best to house them seporately or they could get hungry or agressive towards eachother and lose limbs or tails.
I happen to have some baby's Available here. Some are tangerines and one is 50% possible het blizzard. (possibly carrying the gene for blizzard (pure white leo) which looks normal that can possibly produce blizzards. (You can find info on het genetics Here.

Thank you,
Glad I posted through my research I had not learned that males need to be seperated from the females when they are not breeding. I did not want to turn this into a "buisness" but more of enjoying breeding these creatures and possibly getting a little money for the next project at times. I would love to have some snakes (starting with a corn then a constictor) but my dad hates snakes.
One question about moving the male out when he is done breeding, I figure a 10g aquarium or about that foot print sould be fine. And does this greatly stress the lizard ? Also will he bully the females when aclimating to the new area.
Thanks again
JJ

A majority of the pics need the URLs fixed. If users who have posted pics would go in and edit their posts it would make a lot less work for us admins *hint hint*
When things slow down again for me here, I will start working on that.... oy

Well you may be looking at old pictures that did'nt work, its normal.
The males will sometimes be agressive towards the females thats why he should be monitored the first day while he is with them, keep a close eye. A 10 gallon is fine for a normal sized male, the bigger the better and to help with agression towards females move him into there cage vs. them into his, this way its a new place and the females will more redily breed. Its a normal behavior for the male to bite the females neck gently while breeding to "pin" her into place, if anything gets out of hand then seporate Immediatly.
