That is really a cool pad. What are you using for a top? If you could send a pic of that that would be great.

Wow, that's amazing. I'll bet he thinks he's living in a South American rainforest! Do they like it that wet all the time or do they need some dry areas?

thanks. I've seen people set them on their sides and cut the lid so it pulls down. This is much easier!!!

Re: cresty's crib got pimped out
with the moss pre-misting is relative humidity of 70% while after misting rises to 90% for about 10 mins... then gradually goes back down to 60-70 the next day. From what I understand a humidity range of 60-80 is fine for them.
this is a quote from this site:
Crested Geckos - Rhacodactylus ciliatus - Care of Crested Geckos
Humidity:
Crested geckos need a moderate to high humidity level; aim for 60-80 percent relative humidity (get a hygrometer and monitor levels as humidity is very important). Provide humidity with regular misting with warm filtered water. Depending on your cage set up you may need to mist the cage a few times a day to keep the humidity up. Always make sure the cage is well-misted at night when the geckos are most active. Crested geckos will likely drink from water droplets left from the mist.
seen other sites that say 40-60 is fine. there's no solid crested gecko care-sheet out there they all contradict themselves (some say they need UV, some say they don't, etc etc) and everyone has been doing their different methods supposedly (speaking in general) for eons so I'm just going to give this a go with the moss. He seems to be much more exploratory than usual which I like, before he was always in hiding mode and all illusive-like.
thanks for commenting.

They are native to New Caledonia, Star. An island north east of Australia. Perhaps that's where he thinks he is.
When I get a crestie that is what I want my set up to be like, I love it.

thanks! sorry no pictures. yea i did it myself with my girlfriend. we simply got a tall tub and burned holes through it with a soddering iron to help dissipate some of the moisture and allow fresh air in. used bricked moss as substrate, wet it up, squeezed the water out and set it in.
